Comment by John Sheehan on September 28, 2016 at 11:46am: Two hook setting differences today after noticing hits and drops . Watching line swim off with a bit of slack and setting the hook on the movement not the feel of the fish worked best . I often prefer a slight load of the rod tip before setting as it makes a more direct angle to the hook but if the Crappie drop quickly I become a line watcher and set before feeling while reeling in slack. .

Comment by John Sheehan on September 19, 2016 at 11:30am: Crappie fishing is on at the home lake ,lots of 8-10 " hitting 32nd tube jigs mostly . Some more aggressive fish hitting the 2" and 4" 'Keitech easy shiners'. Fishing the lake I caught the 12" below ,tomorrow afternoon to dark bite .I'll be with brother Greg hunting for them and other species , Gill, Bass, Perch, Pickerel.

Some anglers suppose that only Males turn coal black" Apparently both sexes do .Could this be at all true of Bluegills and other fish?
