Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Just kinda wundered whats your fave kind of water to fish.

Mine would be a nice sized lake or pond with plenty of stumps & stobs to fish around, fallen trees & undrewater brush piles are a plus, cattails along the bank are cool also,  water carity could be either clear or dark stained from all the trees.

So...whats your fave ???

My favorite spots are in a swamp setting with dark water and heavy cover....Another plus to fishing these areas is the likelihood of the availability of shallow water which is key to catching big bluegill year round......Most of the time this setting will be peaceful and likely not very congested, all advantages when stalking that 2 pound gill.....My top three states are North Carolina, Louisiana and South Carolina and they all provide me with great locations meeting this criteria....The photos I added are from local rivers near my North Carolina home! Good discussion Johnny!

Great look'n peice of water ther, sounds like bluegilltopia, makes me want to do a bluegill'n road trip.

I like the backwater arms of big impoundments. They have the mass of water and the predator base to make for both numbers and decent sized fish.

Im soon to move just 15 minutes from Lake Murray, SC. This is one of the largest man-made lakes in the country and is a classic hydroelectric reservoir. Big bass tourneys are held on it's 55,000+ acres it was once the largest earthen dam reservoir in the world. The upper reaches where I will fish are really wide river expanses, and look like Jeff's pics. Needless to say, I'm looking forward to running my kayak there.

Mine would be some water of coarse. Any kind of water and the clearer the better. My wife always thought I'm a little off because I always have a rod & reel with me and I can fish most anywhere that is wet. I enjoy the one on one and hopefully I'm not the only one there but that probably wouldn't mater with a fish being a bonus. That's how we learn is to try that water we are not sure of and always a fish makes it a little better.

Mine would be a farm pond about 4 acres.  I should have some downed trees, cattails all around it and should have a couple of bays.  Oh yeah that is my favorite spot, because it has nice crappie in it.

Dilly

Interest'n to hear what you gents consider your fave kind of water, all of it sounds like like a good time.
