Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

There is another post about what type rod and reel to use. I did not want to hijack that post. It has been on my mind, what little there is of it. That if money was no object, what gillin rod and reel would I buy. Would be great to hear what you all would buy. This idea came to me during the 640 million lotto fanfare. Most were dreaming of new homes and cars, me, I was dreaming of a new fishin pole.

I've been looking at those 12 - 16' graphite crappie poles lately.  Don't know if I'll pull the trigger or not.  My other half is already not happy with how many poles I have.

I would really LOVE to have a 10' steelhead rod.  We don't get those down here; I'd have to order it.  Plus, we don't have steelhead here in OK.  I plan on using it to chuck light jigs and spinners WAY out there to catch White Bass.

Allen the Bass pro and B&M crappie poles are great. If you go with bass pro (crappie max) Get the green pole, The brown rods are too stiff.Hold off on that I might have it backwards, I will check in morning

By the way I would love to have a G Loomis panfish rod with a Pflueger Patriarch reel

Rod: A long limber casting rod - 7' or 8'. Maybe even a short fly rod with ceramic guides.

Reel: A trigger spin from Daiwa.

Im easy to please.

Rod: another G.Loomis TSR801-2 GLX (I only have one because I got a great deal on it)

Reel: Shimano Stella 1000FE

Pretty extravagant for a bluegill setup, but once you've sampled the top of the line gear, you can never go back. I have a Shimano Stradic Ci4 1000F on the rod I already have, and the only improvement I could think of was the Stella. It is just a super fun rod to use. Ever since I bought it, it has been on the boat with me every time I have went fishing other than offshore saltwater trips.

Oh and for those who don't know, that rod is a 6'8" true fast action ultralight rated for 2-6lb line and 1/32-3/16oz lures.

A nice 2 piece ultralight spinning rod about 6 feet with a fast action, I cant stand a flimsy fish'n rod & have never been able to find exactly what I want in stores, have had thoughts on try'n to build one.

The reel would be a Shimano ultralight, something with a dull or gray finish, seems everything now days is polished or chromed, strung up with 4 or 6 pound test.

That would be a killer set up for my kind of fish'n.
