i saw some real small spoons at bass pro this weekend.. could u break it down for me... i saw some lil swedish pimples and some real lil devils i think they were called..

do u use them under a float or slip bobber

do u just cast and retrieve

Cal.....join the Spoon Chuckers group.....and find all your answers there.

Though this Redear is not very big, they just clobber this tiny Dardevle "Skeeter" spoon on a steady slow retrieve. This little spoon is probably my favorite panfish lure.

cool jeff.. just cast it and reel it in kinda slow..

did u tip it with a grub or something

No...Tipping with a small waxwork would work ok for jigging it in deeper water, but for casting and reeling it back in, a bait on it will kill the nice wobbling action the spoon has.  Also I tie it to my 2 lb test line with a loose loop knot, so it will have maximum action, because the lure does not come with a split ring. Do not use a snap swivel. Even the smallest is too large for this small lure and will take away from it's natural forage food appearance.

Nice fish Jeff and a nice color combination on that spoon. I really haven't used spoons much but adding a little here and there when I see one that appeals to me.

Ooooo..you need to read Bill's article anout the spoons in the Group of Spoon Chuckers. After reading his article, it left me dumb founded. However, if you see the darvevle spoons, grab a few. Small 1/16oz is a killer for gills and trouts in our areas. Red and black dots lady bug is a hot item. Green and black hot mackerel is a killer. Trout pattern is a magnet to trout and bass.

Ive also got some of the smallest Silver Minnows made. They are are, like, 1/8 once and supposedly snag resistant. I'm looking forward to trying them with a very slow, bluegill enticing retrieve..

Hey David .Is this what you mean ? Didnt you tell me once ,you bend the hooks down to accomodate Bluegill mouths ? I know they catch Perch pretty well . The Mister Twister shad glued to the tiny Johnson spoon helps me get more distance from shore to cover more water .http://bigbluegill.com/photo/march-11-cupsaw-slip-floating-397?cont...

Those are the ones, Big John!

I have tinkered with the hook bend, but that seems to be of limited value - I can only bend them a small amount for fear of breaking them. Even then, the plating wants to crack and come off. One thing is certain; these are strong lures.

The more I learn, I'm also struck with the idea that brim wont like them. Their bright silvery flash and action-packed wobble may scare them more than entice them. I didn't really think of that when I got them - I didnt suspect it, in fact. They were small and I got them as a lot of 10, shipped to me for $17 total.

@ $1.70 each was too good to pass up.

So it could be that they only entice perch and bass and pike and other piscivorous fishes? If it turns out that way, well.... that wont be so bad.

I would have no problem with that either David!
