Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

I know we all love bluegill, they are fun to catch, and fun to eat. When we clean them we have to decide whether we are going to fillet or clean them whole to prepair them for the grease. I for one fillet almost everything I catch because my wife and kids dont   like bones , I like them this  way but I also like eating the whole fish,by whole fish I mean I remove the dorsal fin, the tail , and the lateral fins. I am surprised by the people that object to me removing the tail and fins, they say the eat them like potato chips, to me there is no meat on the tail and fins and they just take up skillet space. So I wonder what the % of Fineaters are there out there, Fin Eaters, stand up and be counted.

No Fins, No Tails.
I did when I was a kid but now days no...but on a whim I mite go for some fin.
No fins fer me.

I leave all fins and tails intact.....the essence of "bone in" cooking draws me to this method of preparation 3-4 times a year.

I just love the flavor of the flesh when it's enhanced by skin and bone.

Hey LOF . When I cook them whole I leave the fins and tails on. I usually fillet 95 % of them.
Fillet's all the way, all the time. Just got used to the method, people never turn them down
Looks as though I'm in the minority....My name is Matt Lewis and I (hangs head) am a fin eater
Now Matt , dont that feel better getting that off your chest, I know there are others out there that want to come out of the Fin Eaters closet, in this day and age Fin Eating is more openly acceptable,so to the rest of yall Fin Eaters , look up to Matt for  sharing his experience.    LOFR

My name is Abu and I, I, I!  Am a fin and egg row eater.....I'm sorry! I was turned on to it by my mother who was addicted to mullet. It's a tasty side, that is reminds me of childhood.

     Ahhhhh..........I feel so much better.

Thank you, Bigbluegill.com!

My Mom loved mullet row.  The darn stuff would pop and snap all over the place when frying. She used to do something to it to stop that but I can't remember what it was. That was 60 years ago.
No fins, no tails, no scales, no heads.
No FINS or Tails for me.  My hubby on the other hand, always eat the tails, and sometimes the fins.
