Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

I went on you tube looking at different knots, and found one called the 100% knot. I sometimes have trouble seeing my 2 and 4 lb. test when I tie a improved clinch knot, and thought I would try something easier on my eyes. I lost two fish today because of knot failure. I finally just squinted hard, and went back to the improved clinch knot. Has anyone else on here tried this knot?

Life was sure simpler when I was a kid, and just piled three "granny" knots on top of each other and went fishing.........

When using a palomar to secure tackle, I never pass the doubled line through the eye. I thread the line through single, then feed that loose end back through the eye the opposite direction.....instant loop, and a whole lot easier.

You're a rebel, Tony!

David I totally agree, thx for your say so buddy.

My motto....If you can't tie a knot, tie a lot!

Hi I say that all the time at work, i had to grin when i see your post, you shure you didn't get that from me lol Sleepy

Nice motto Jeffrey. You know I've tied lots of different knots and some very good ones but because I've used it forever and I can almost tie it in my sleep and comfortable tying it I use the improved clinch. I don't tie it because its the best I tie it because its the best for me to tie it'a that comfort issue. I seen the Davey Knot a couple weeks ago and tried it out. It is really the simplest knot I've ever tied. I really don't know what the real name of the knot is but apparently used by fly fisherman who knows when. I wasn't sure of the holding and breaking strength but Leo cleared that up for me. I guess everything doesn't have to be complicated to work and that's what this knot is. I tied something similar many years ago but really had no way of checking it out so went back to the clinch. It was also an easy knot and would be interested in having it checked out. I'll get with Leo and see what he thinks and if it's worthy of a test.

Would be honor to test any knot for you Dick. If anyone else has the time to test it out with me to verify, it would be a nice thing as well to validate the data together.

I looked at the Davy Knot, and it does look easy. It looked familiar to me, too. I think I've been doing *something* like it down through the years... just a series of logical loops and feed-through's. Most recently, I've been tying my stingers to the main hook bend with a similar sort of knot.

According to the fly-fishing sites where I've seen it, the knot itself is top-notch. They equate it to the Trilene in strength, while being faster to tie. Among competitive fly fishermen*, it seems to be the go-to lashup. You're right, Dick; now and then, something new, better and simpler DOES come along.

*(competitive fly-fishing? That seems like an oxymoron...)

I'm certainly Knot an expert, but here's what I gather are some common knots....Knot that I would have firsthand knowledge......

"Knot in this life or any other"

"Knot if you were the last man on earth"

"Knot tonight, I have a headache".......

Tony, you truly are a rebelling jokester..knot!!

"Knot in your lifetime bub!"

"You think this is the end of it?! Knot!"

"You are knot the first, and you are knot the last!"

...

And who can forget: "To be or knot to be."

I've read, and have been told, a regular clinch knot is as strong as any. I've never had any failures except when I tied it improperly.
