Do you love big bluegill?

Can anyone tell me what kind of sunfish this is?

It was caught in Minnesota.

Looks like a Pumkinseed.
A green Sunfish I think .
It's a hybrid bluegill, a cross between a bluegill and a green sunfish.
hybird blue gill/sunfish got a pond full of them
That's a Hybrid bluegill. Nice one, too!!!
Definitely a hybrid bluegill.

Likely either a BG X GS, or a BG X PS
How about GS X PS?
I noticed that the eye was red, can a bluegill get crossed with a rock bass?
Are y'all sure this isn't a regular red-ear, i.e. shellcracker? Somethin's been chewing on it, I see. Got bowfins?
I think it is a redear
Hey, that's my fish! Now I know where you were looking for answers, Tim. To respond to this for others to see, numerous biologists here in MN have said it's a GS x PS cross. They also stated that it's nearly impossible to tell the difference between hybrids when a green sunfish is involved. The fisheries boys would count this as a green sunfish or a hybrid and toss it back. They wouldn't classify it any further. One researcher asked for samples from the fish we've been catching, as pumpkins are rare in this waterway, and green sunfish even rarer. These fish are abundant however. I'm sticking with green x pumpkinseed until the Jerry Spring DNA test confirms it... ;)
i'm goin with this guy
