Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Got a pond full of these + giant water beetles. If someone knows what these bugs are I would appreciate it so I can make a fly to try and match the hatch.I have a pond full of these.

I knew I had bugs but not so many. Plus 1000's of bullfrog tad poles.

We'll talk

I'm waiting for the fishing report now.......

Got a couple small gills and a 10 inch perch. I'm not use to a sinking fly and missed a couple watching my line just not being fast enough.

Do a really slow retrieve, basically just using your fingers to slowly wind the line back in.  Sometimes, I see my line/leader twitch.  Sometimes, I feel the hit.  Sometimes it's both.

Have you tried using a strike indicator?  I like to use a Thingamabobber.  Basically, just a wee little bobber.

Thanks Allen. All I'm doing know is letting the line sink and watch for twitches. I'm use to top water and have to get accustomed to the sinking flies. I was thinking about some kind of strike indicator. Never used one and have to read up on it or see some video's  to see what to use and how to use it. My Granddaughter cleaned my clock this afternoon fishing. I'll post a few pictures later this evening. Thanks Allen for your input it all helps buddy and very appreciated.

I seldom use a bobber but when I do I use a craft foam grass hopper fly. There are lots of patterns on the net. You can also use a size 8 or 6 popper. Double your pleasure and double your fun

Thanks Ray makes sense.

Dragon fly nymphs - also called thunderbugs. An outstanding bluegill bait.

These are dragonfly nymphs my pond is loaded with them to. I was so overwhelmed with them I made a dragonfly nymph fly. 1st cast I got a hybrid striper that was loads of fun on the 2wt. this was a big version couldn't find a pix of the 1st one that I tied which was vary small for me.
