El Nino has delivered a mild Winter . First sign of skim ice on my neighborhood shallow Lake was today . NW cove only ,the rest of the lake has a cold 11 mph wind blowing from the NNW feeling like 14 degrees  at around 3pm .

We have no ice in Central and I'm disappointed. I don't think we're going to have good enough ice to fish this year. My buddy and I we're going to buy an electric auger. It's a good thing we didn't.

You got open water deep options in a boat ? I hope to go midday-dark Thursday but not sure if me and a buddy can bust through the skim ice that may accumulate  .The wind chill brought it down to single digits last night .I've had the  woodstove goin all day

January 9th still some open water nearby .Some shallow lakes have unsafe ice .

I was able to fly fish for trout today and caught 2 small ones. I'm beginning to think I won't be ice fishing this year.

Good you got out .I may investigate the local stream this week sometime to see how the smallies and Red Breasted sunfish are doing but not sure how it'll go .

Jan 13 no ice fishing yet . I'll take a ride around tomorrow and see what the lakes look like . It's getting colder though !

Today at 3:50 32deg ,feeling 24 degrees with wind chill. Still the 5 day forecast doesn't look sure enough for safe ice anytime soon. This is horrible .

Ice tent on the Monksville !! I am not trusting the ice however ,

Three days in a row now ice fishermen on Monksville. Brother Greg and I might go Thursday , our 1st time out this year .We'll see .

Still not trusting the ice . Some shallow areas of the NW section of the Monksville are still being ice fished but I'll pass.
