Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

All Newcomers Should View All Of John Sikkilla's Photos Prior To Joining

1. They'll see a wide variety of lures in the mouths of fresh caught beauties.
2. They'll see gorgeous lake and pond scenery.
3. They'll see what "BIG" Bluegill means.
4. They’ll see lots of “Big Uns”
5. They'll get "The Fever".

Then they can join. OK. I didn’t have to so they shouldn’t either, but I’m sure glad I finally looked at all of them. Makes my mouth water to go be on the water. How about ya’ll?

Wow!...Just saw this!.....Lol!....Sure wasn't expecting it!.....Sure hope the pics "do" get people excited about bluegill fishing!.....Thing is I more than likely won't be posting many more pics until next spring since I'm not into the ice fishing thing (did it for 40 years) Thanks Bluegillboogieman...very nice of you!....John
I think we should make it a requirement that all existing members spend at least five minutes a month enjoying John Sikkila's photography. I'll try to fight through some of the upcoming winter doldrums by doing just that.
If these pictures don't get them exited about BIG BLUE GILL, Then they are just dead meat anyway. John pics are amazing, and beutiful. John did you ever think about teaching a class on photography? Let me know I will drive there.
Yup, Johns pix get us all in the mood to catch some gills! In my neck of the woods, if the winter isn't too rough, I hope to be gilling all through the winter months!
I second that!....Mr Sikkila has refined shutter skillz and access to gem water (.....I plan on tracking you down some day.....) John, your idle will add to the doldrums of the frozen period, but I have a plan......BBG has one heck of an image gallery full of quality pics from thousands of members, worthy of a compilation video with a soundtrack......can you guess what's coming?
My attention!
John, your photography talent is surpassed only by your fishing talent!!! I guess. Hey, this ain't a set up is it?. You ain't just sitting in a studio waiting for everybody you know to bring in them bad boys and you're claiming you caught 'em are you? JUST KIDDING!!! Realy though, I didn't see a cricket in the mouth of any of those monsters. I did see a rather large "Jitterbug" though. Come on now, that was just a prop right? You really catch most of those gills on crickets right? Right? Please!!!

Boogieman
Lol!....No studio trust me Boogie!....No one lined up at my doors with their bluegills ...lol!....and as far as crickets...crickets really don't live up in northern minnesota in any numbers...to cold I suppose.....oh yes,I did see a half a dozen(in my lifetime) up here....I really think the famous northern minnesota mosquitos must have kicked em out....lol!.......What you see/saw in those gills mouths are what they chomped on.....John
I was afraid of that John. Blows my cricket hang up to smithereens. I wouldn't be caught dead without a cricket in the water. That's probably the secret to success. If I wouldn't be caught dead without a jig in the water, I'd be famous instead of you. Wait...maybe not. I'd have to take great pictures too. Another theory busted. I need a hug!!! Bye.

Boogieman
You ain't dead in the water yet, Boogie. Tell ya what, when we get together, you bring a box full of those little spinners and jigs, and I'll fish with crickets. We'll see who does best. ;-)

John, we don't use wild crickets anyway, at least I don't. It is pretty easy to raise your own by just having some shipped in and letting them breed. You could easily fish all summer on just one shipment of 1000 or so. I posted a little bit about it on the Live Bait Group, and I'll post some details if you sign up over there. BTW, I took Boogieman's advice and checked out your photo album. It is simply awesome! The fish are nice but the photography, editing, and labeling is just super. Good show!
Whoa Dan!!! You done crossed the line there. An executive decision may have to be made to nip this thread in the bud. Everybody knows I've been re-reading the rules lately and they state twice. NO RELIGIOUS discussion. Well excuse me but I was SAVED by crickets. No way will I foresake them for those graven image artificial things. Yes... maybe I have backslid some. Especially since joining this church. But I am Born Again. So get your hand out of my cricket can before you get struck down by THE HAND OF THE BOOGIEMAN.

Oops! Knocked my cricket can overboard demonstrating my hand thing. Hey Dan ole buddy ole pal, can you spare a few?

Boogieman
Aww Boog, I was just trying to help the boy out a little bit. Just think about the pretty pictures he could show us if he had some bait! I even thought about telling him how to grunt worms up out of the ground.
