Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Back in the old days the old mountain men would get together for a rendevous  , Tootie and I were just wondering who would be interested and like to join us in early Sept on Reelfoot Lake in Tennessee  for a Old fashion bluegill rendevouis . This wont be a fishing tournament but just a BBG get together for a good time catching fish, eating good, swapping flies and lies.  Does this not sound like too much fun ! We arn't getting any younger, let us know what you think!   LOFR

wish you could make it to the rendevou Tony!!

Is this only for fly fishing? Just wondering if someone could bring some bait to this event.

Hmmm... Anyone from Chicago area interested in a road trip?

Johnny , The Rendezvous is open to all, and what ever type of method they chose to harvest bluegill, this is not a contest but a get together of people that enjoy fishing for bluegill and a chance to meet other members of BBG, I personally will be flinging crickets under a porcupine quill with a flyrod, and others can use any style of fishing they want to, so grab your 40 foot pole and head down I -55, we are planning to have some fun, food , campfire, fly tieing, and lying, swap meet, fishing and talking fishing, You need to attend, dont just wish you did . LOFR

LOF!

I know it isn't a contest - I would want to put a massive bag of fish together, those are my fireworks.

I see they have catfish, carp, gills and crappies and you guys call'n my name.

I am in the preliminary stages of planning but will check back in.

I was half kidding on the fly fishing, but I can bring some flies from up North. I was thinking about 10k or 20k fresh...

If I am driving all the way down, I need some recon on depths, structures so I can start tying rigs.

I would bring the 40-foot pole, casting rods and of course the telescopic poles. It is possible I have my prototypes ready for this trip for a "sneak peek" and a test drive on that big lake.

hey johnny wilkins!!  bring what ever you want to buddy!!  its a first time get- together!!  I;m bring one fly rod;; one spinning rod!!  there should be bait there;; but bring your own if you want!!

Who claims to be the best at filleting?? - Step forward if you have superpowers.

I will be ordering some bait - but I see packages where that resort provides some bait as well. More info as we approach but if I am heading that way and you have requests- I can help out. I for certain will have 10k of the finest flies in larvae form in honor of LOFR!

Is there a way we can post the "oh - fish - al" events for the BBG Rendezvous?

I am trying to put together plans but if you have the fish fry / bbq / tackle swap / - (brunch or breakfast) - a few events we can all try to hit , the location, times etc. - I would be happy to make a little guide-brochure for the outa-towners and to make those who aren't attending super-jealous.

Would this be the first national Bluegill Convention / Festival and shouldn't there be one?!

Do we want some t-shirts? $11 or $13 for xxl - I can whip up something if there is some interest.

My marketing company is having a sale so they aren't crazy expensive even for just ordering 3 or 4 of them....

Can someone put the schedule together??

Hey Johnny I"ll be on later tonight and after reading your bio I"m amazed at all you have accomplished . Hope you are around later and I would stay on longer now but have a Doctors appointment and will be on later with Carl and crew....

I will be offline between 6:30 p.m. Central and 8:30 p.m. but will be back on after that.

After this week I get a my nights back!

                  LOFR

You got Johnny Wilkins, you get things in a big way. T-shirts and a national scope!
Love it!

Have a room reserved for the 5th & 6th, will get in there late Friday night, bringing my fly rod (like I can actually use it) and a spinning rod for wifey to use, really looking forward to it.

Some bodys gonna have to show me how to fillet a blue gill, always wanted to learn that and this would be a good chance to get plenty of hands on, also would love to get some help with my fly rodding skills, what I do has nothing to do with skill, I stink with a fly rod.

Anything we should bring ???
