Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Back in the old days the old mountain men would get together for a rendevous  , Tootie and I were just wondering who would be interested and like to join us in early Sept on Reelfoot Lake in Tennessee  for a Old fashion bluegill rendevouis . This wont be a fishing tournament but just a BBG get together for a good time catching fish, eating good, swapping flies and lies.  Does this not sound like too much fun ! We arn't getting any younger, let us know what you think!   LOFR

I've been thinking about this all week, gonna try my best to make it, hate to miss such a good learning oppertunity, just the chance to pick the worlds greatest minds in all things blue gill is worth the the gas money.

Johnny, your presents at the first  Rendezvous  will even make it better, plan on having fun ! LOFR

Hate to ask because its probably already been posted, but whats kind of place is everyone staying/meeting at ??  do I need to make a resorvation ?? and for how many days ??

Sorry for asking but I've started a new job & am out of town a lot so I havent been keeping up, since some of the others are bringing there wifes mine might tag along.

**** FOUND IT !!!!!!!!!!!, SEPT 5TH, BOYETTS RESORT, ****

That's great Johnny, your wife is more than welcome, where are you coming from ? how long is your drive? LOFR

The likelihood is (way) under 50% of it happening, but if a person were to fly in from California to attend this, would that involve flying to Nashville and renting a car, or is there some better way to go about it?

Thanks!

Memphis is closer, Reel foot is north Memphis, in the corner where TN,KY & MO meet, Nashville is 200+ miles to the east.

If you can get a flight to Paducah , Ky , you would be real close to Reelfoot Lake. LOFR

Thanks, LOFR. I'll check the flights, just in case.

I just looked on Google maps and saw how much water is around there. Oh, my! :D This dweller of the desert (that is to say, pretty much all of southern California) is deeply impressed :)

LOFR: we live about a hundred miles east of Nashville, probably 300 +/- miles, but we dig us a road trip so its just a good excuse to explore some back roads, plus we get to stop in at Bozos BBQ in Mason TN, they claim to be one of the oldest BBQ stands in the country, a scene from the Johnny Cash movie was shot there (where Johnny met June in the BBQ place), not to mention good food.

Was gonna call about a cabin today but got busy, will try tomorrow.

If your going through Mason try Gus's Fried Chicken here it's good.

Always up for some yard bird, will check it out.

With great regret I must announce that I will be unable to attend after all. My family has a standing event on that particular weekend, and although I initially thought I would be able to skip it and head to Tennessee, I now know that is not the case.

Have fun guys....take lots of photos!
