Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

I have a question.  I am  currently using a monofilament line designated for winter ice fishing.  Here in Southern California, during the winter months, we do not get any ice on our lakes, or even extreme cold weather.  Does anyone know if there are any problems using a "cold water" line in relatively warm (70 degrees) water?  I am using this line because I like the small diameter, knot strength, color and light poundage available..1,2, and 3 lb test.

Jeff I do that also....never had a problem with the line in warm weather.

I do it all the time - I dont think there is a major difference between the lines... at least not enough to matter.

Catch and dont worry, Jeff!

I don't see a problem. It should work just fine.

don't know for sure but i always heard ice line is made to be softer and therefore more stretchy.might not break but might be harder to set the hook on a long cast.i prefer braid as the smaller tests are like spider silk and you can always use some flyfishing tippet for the first couple feet.i can cast 75 feet and fish 15 feet down and feel the lightest hit.braid has no stretch and the older i get the more feel the strike more than see it.it is expensive but i have not changed line on some reels for over 5 years

No problem whatsoever as to the line itself and its structural integrity.  But as Jim Cosgrove wrote you might have a little trouble with hook sets.  It is typically more flexible than other lines so you might have a little more stretch than with regular line in a mono; unsure as to ice designed braids and flouro's.

Sounds like a good time for an ice line leader beneath a braid.....
