Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

I have had a very simple round boat for about 6 years and it has been great for me, but I think it is time for an upgrade. I am thinking I want a Uboat. Anybody have any good tubes that they would recommend?

Also, I am about 6'6 and 250 so I would like one that can support me.

Bryce I have a Cumberland which I purchased last year. Looks pretty beefy to me. The weight limit on it is 350. Will be doing mods to it this spring will be posting when I get started. Nothing like having a few comforts from the big boat.

Hi Bryce

I have the same question. Will be intersting to see replies. I have a Fishmaster round tube with a real inner tube that I have used since the mid 80s. It is still in very good shape. It is a jumbo (Deluxe) model with a higher weight rating than Fishmaters standard tube. It had been great but is a pain to enter and leave the water with unless there's a gravel boat, ramp or hard sloping bottom in the water to be fished.

It also is tough getting all that drag across a big area of water if the wind is against me.

I am sure these new ones are better in both those regards.

Will be interesting to see your responses.

Jay

I have been doing some more research and the kind I am most interested in are the V shaped tubes.

I am currently using a Fishcat 4 LCS, having transitioned from a doughnut about 4 or 5 years ago.  I highly recommend the Fishcat.  It is easy on and off, easier to deal with swim fins and do not wear out wader like a doughnut does.  I was successful in flipping mine in the Hooch about a year and a half ago but I also got upside down re-entering the driver with my doughnut.  I got sideway to the current going from an eddy pool into the main current, so wear you pfd when tubing.
