Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

As excitement is generated with the upcoming Bluegill peak in many areas, I was just wandering if there were any members that would like to share a favorite fishing trip they take every year or used to go as a child that has created a lifetime memory. For many anglers I know, these outings are the cornerstone of their love for fishing....

oh wow haha. well, i'm excited and look forward to seeing them once you get em converted!

Thank you Chris, they are family movies probably 45 years worth.

Nice story Chris. Going fishing with your father at an older age means more than those younger years, as we feel our mortality as we get older. I will never be able to fish with my father again, at 92 years old that is impossible. You guys down in Louisiana got it going on down there. Will have to put on my list of places to fish.

Yes it does, i remember being younger and whenever my dad asked if i wanted to fish, i would say no because i'd want to do something else, but now i try to fish with him every chance i get. I'm sorry to hear that :/ I would consider going to Arkansas a must, and once you get there you'd wish you went sooner haha.

What I really enjoy about this piece is the diversity that each and every state offer......The common thread here is people with a passion and a little desire to explore.......Give me ten minutes, a five gallon bucket of water and a two inch bluegill and my grandkids and I will make a memory! Thanks for the willingness to share your experiences and if this discussion inspires a member or two to fish a new species or a new location then we have more than fulfilled our obligation to share the knowledge......

I guess it seems like the grass is always greener someplace else, I want to go back to Louisiana , Chris wants to come back to Arkansas, I guess everyone wants to be somewhere else.    LOFR

My Fishin Pardner and I try to take a fall trip every year, usually in October, lookin for a new hole each year.  Below are pictures from past October. Campsite was just a few yards from this picture.  I count on these trips to decompress, chase bluegill, and kick back by the campfire everynight with good food and margaritas.

That's what it's all about Jen...thanks for sharing and what a good looking location!

And so you should. As have many before you. Its a great thing.

Jen I could get into that. Can't tell if you fish a river or a small lake. I do love the clear water even though it's a harder water it fish. Nice pictures.

This was our view from the back porch on Toledo Bend Reservoir....We lived near the town of Florein, Louisiana on the Southern side of the lake....I caught countless Bluegill, Warmouth and Largemouth Bass from this dock......The skeeter SD80 was stored overhead and the Crappie/Bluegill barge was tied below..............

My daughter Lacey loved to be in the middle of things back in the day.......We caught 100s of crappie on Toledo Bend in Shallow spawing ranges from back yards and piers...great to get children in these catches.
