Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Greetings again. I am tim the deaf fisherman from new orleans. I had to drop my old address and have a new sign in name.

I recently began to purchase equipment that was ruined in katrina.

I did get two Master brand Crappie Grabber telescopic poles which I feel are the best. I do like the old bream master.

I recently bought a daiwa millionaire..the old round style since th saltwater ate up my old procaster.

Now I am going to by a new spin cast. I was thinking a Zebco 33 but the Z03 caught my attention. It is very expensive for a spincast..but the guy at Academy says they are impressive.

Does anyone on here have one?

Tim is it because of the casting or reeling. You can get the reel in right or left hand retrieve maybe you can change off and maybe that will help you.

Really I can't do much with the right hand. I can reel. I can't work a lure with right hand on the rod..

The zebco Z03 performed up to expectations. It did come with right hand retrieve and it can be switched over to left hand if need be.

The reel itself is smooth and I have no complaints. Can see myself using it probly as often ans the shimano spinning reel set up.

One thing I would add....sometimes internet folks get carried away with praise. The Zebco Z03 is a great reel, professionail quality..but you ain't going to go catching reds and drum with it.

I don't use spincast reels very much but I do have a Z03, bought it for my wife.  I've had it about 6 months +/- and it is by far the best spincast I've ever owned.  The oscillating spool is the trick.  I bought it for a bass reel for her, tried braided line on it (that didn't work) but regular florocarbon works great.  The 33's are good serviceable reels but I really prefer the Z03 for a spincast reel.

I do have one complaint.

I am no fan of Cajun Line. It is not good for swamp and bayou fishing and I easily abrased.

That's all. The reel itself is worth the money. I love that thing.

Upon further reflection, I have two minor complaints about the Z03:  1) Painfully low gear ratio, and 2) the drag adjustment control is poorly placed. It sits right under where  I normally place my thumb when palming the reel, so I am continually inadvertently/unintentionally changing the drag setting with my dumb thumb.  Notwithstanding these nits, it's still the best spincast reel I've ever owned.

Yeah yeah true..I can live with the 3.4 ratio..wish it was faster, but the drag button is in a bad spot for me too. A lot of deaf people are super-sensitive with feeling vibrations..and I really rely on it a lot..so I, too, have my palm over that part of reel.

I made a really stupid mistake the other day..had a hard hit on the purple zoom wirm as I was lifiting it before letting it fall back down..and when I proceeded to set the hook, I hit the release button for casting. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh I wanted to throw the thing in the water.

Argh!  I feel your pain!

CAN U POST A PIC OF THIS Z03

I am computer illiterate but I am sure someone else cane..maybe david. Or one of the others

Internet says they look like this....

i love the z03 and the smaller z02. bought a new delta zebco last year, a little cheaper than omegas, but impressive. spinning reals i use only 101c cardinals from abu, but as for spincasts i believe the high end zebcos are a step above the rest.

Here's a pic of my Z03, and a pic of what it caught this morning. I know it's not a bluegill but it helps make big bluegill by eating the little ones.
