The clear spook works in absolutely any color water. I think the beauty of it is that it takes on the color of the water around it. Essentially no red flags. Nothing to look out of the ordinary.
"Takes on the color of the water around it"....Very natural!
Last night I used the Zara Spook (blue/clear) double prop bait and raised two small fish but no hookups...Went a little smaller with a 5/8 (lol)oz. Hula Popper, rasied another fish but no hookup.

I had only 2 hrs. to fish and I had already caught a small bass on a Yum worm .The spook was a good search bait. I didnt go smaller because it wasn't calm enough and I was working on attracting bigger fish....Which I didnt do Ha Ha!

sorry i love jitterbugs more than any other lure and have been an avid collector for some time so they had to get 4 places on my list :)
Vincent can you post a photo of your Jitterbug collection!Love to see it . I have three sizes ,are there more sizes on the market?
I say jitterbug all the way
We have caught some quality bass on a variety of topwaters to include the Pop R, classic Jitterbug and Spooks. But the hands down, money winner back here is a custom buzz bait my friend Gary makes. It is small by bass standards, with a 1/4 oz. banana-shaped body, but has an over-sized, three-veined lexan blade. We can fish this extremely slow and just watch and hear those blades gurggling and popping like a little motor boat! On the lower. banana body, we run a stinger hook, facing down, off the main hook, which rides up. Strikes can be explosive or soft...just wait til you feel the weight of the fish before setting the hook. We do equally well with white or black, as I assume it is the commotion that draws the majority of the strikes.

Amazingly, this lure is great for river smallmouths during low-light times, with heart shattering strikes!
I love the top water bite. I use a Zara spook a lot. Also in heavy vegetation the Zoom horny toad! The old popper is great also!!

#3 Frog or Red & White hula popper 5/8 oz.
#4 Original Bill Plummers frogs 3/8 or 5/8 oz. 2nd edition with solid rubber legs Green frog color

#5 Wood Bass O Reno's in Red & White 3/8 or 5/8 oz.

#6 Old Lucky 13 Heddons wood  Red & White or solid black
#7  Shakespeare Wood Mouse all black or Red & White 3/8 oz.
When I couldn't catch bass on one of these they weren't bitting anything !!!!!!!

Double prop baits have moved into 1st place for my top 7! Work even when windy around shallow cover  .
