Ice Breakers for 2026…2/28/2026

Thought it was too early for shallow crappie and fished three canals and a creek that typically warm up the fastest in my area but the highest I saw was 46.6 degrees…..very stained from heavy rain this week and blown out….but typically we have a kick off within a week of the Full Worm moon…first weekend in six week without small craft advisories on the Albemarle……two small largemouth on the drop off…suspended a little higher which may be a good sign for the next few weeks as surface waters warm from the March sun, drifted Popeye jigs around structure and stump fields tipped with live small minnows…..
