Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

I was sharing a rig I use with "The Dentist" yesterday for fishing deep. Got me thinking if any of you use any type of float jig, ect for gills. I know some use a rubber spider with shot to bring it down.

I make my own floating jigs/rigs using sheets of foam I get at the hooby store. Going to have to learn how to post pics and I'll show some of my rigs.

This is a fantastic question - there is a new product coming to market with which you can create something slightly better than the floating jig head which includes some scent (removes the human odor and the foam scent)...

 

More details on April 2nd (I would put the 1st, but then people would think it was a joke)...

 

I think this would be my 3rd option for fishing deep though... It just is not sensitive enough to get the fish in cold, deep water. Maybe in the warmer stuff.

As I read more- for drift fishing these rigs are right on! A lot of my articles and content will be regarding still fishing or fishing current but from the bank. Add a boat and there are a few components to worry about so YES, there is an excellent new float product coming out in April. Thanks Don.
are you taking about getting crappie tubes with jigheads and puting a float above that
I wasn't talking about jigheads these are scented little discs that you can put on a hook with the bait or you can ride it up over the top of the bait they are very versatile and we are a week away from getting the first set of samples from the company in the next two weeks.
Last July I discovered this floating jig/split shot/Plastic Helgramite rig worked well on Yellow Perch .Haven't used it since .I think Mister Twister may have dropped the Helgramite lure from its line which is a cryin' shame.This rig should work great for river smallies in the right situation.The floating jig heads are the same used on Steelheads in the Salmon River in NY state around Lake Ontario.
