I use hot dog weiners as bait in my bluegill pond. They seem to bite that better and quicker than any other bait I have tried. And I have tried the corn as well. They do bite the corn , but like I said tey bite the weiners quicker than anything. They love it.

By the way, use the weiner straight  out of the pack

Ihave used something similar to hotdogs with great luck. Try the little "smokies sausage" for cats. They stay on your hook better and give off that smokey smell. I also witnessed a fellow fishing for carp and he used a large sling shot to propel the corn to the middle of the river. The water would boil and he would throw in and hook up instantly. the river was shallow and slow moving.

Ive heard of hot dogs for brim, as well as bologna. Corn, too.

But most often these two, hot dogs and corn, are usually associated with catfish and carp - in that order.

But nothing is cut in stone when it comes to fishing. Bluegill are know to take both, and I would think much has to do with presentation. Heck I've known of people to hook them on a bit of yarn on a tiny hook.. and sometimes on a bare gold hook, by itself!

I use hot dogs all the time. Just microwave them about 20 seconds, before cutting them up, helps stay on hook better. Then I put garlic powder or garlic salt on them. They work great.

While waiting for my taxes today I read of a catfish bait:

1 pack of cheap chicken hot dogs, cut into 1" pieces

Two packs of strawberry Kool-Aid, unsweetened

2 cloves of garlic

Place items in a ziplock bag or jar with enough water to cover. Let marinate for as long as desired.

This could be used for brim, certainly and might benefit from 20 seconds of microwaving

Through this whole discussion of hotdogs and corn, I have to think back about how I fish and I keep coming up with this thought:

I feed the fish better than I feed myself when fishing. One of these times out - try worms and fix yourself some grilled hotdogs with a side of buttery garlic corn and some cold Koolaid so that you eat better than the fish...

The answer to hotdogs or corn is c., none of the above (feed the fish fish food).

A recurring theme lately is the shore side meal. It seems everything I read mentions it, probably because the things I read are not focused on water-ripping, rocket powered boat bassin'....

I confess that fishing food (as opposed to "fish food") has always been a sandwich or something like that, unless I'm camping. I just don't want to be bothered toting the equipment needed to cook a meal on the bank. I'm kind of a minimalist when it comes to extraneous gear, anyway.

It also matters that I am not normally going to be fishing, sun-up to dusk, time enough to cook a meal. 3-4 hours or so, and then I'm usually off to do something else.

Maybe this year some of that will change, I don't know. Grilled hot dogs are always good in my opinion, and like Johnny, I reckon they are as good in ME as the fish. But if they work to catch 'em, I can share...

Right on! I was speaking for myself in that I feed the fish very well and then I find myself hungry - most times with nothing to eat but what I have in the bait box...

I should prep myself some of this good stuff this year too.

I read about a fella who swears by chicken livers, too. Fished on bottom with a slider rig, much like when catfishing, he swears the bull 'gills will run off any piddlers that try to get that liver.
Yeah I catch bullheads with them every single day in my pond. Then I cut up the bullheads and feed that to all the fish
A friend of mine used corn with garlic powder to catch trout.
Good point. All this talk about  hotdogs etc is making me hungry
