Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Last month a buddy and I hit a private residential pond that we hit back in September. Whole nightcrawlers with no weight on the bottom was the ticket.

Both of us together ended up with close to 20 bluegills, 4 pumpkinseeds, 5 yellow perch, and 3 largemouths.

Most of the gills were bulls. Perfect 8" to 10" chubby ones which I got good panfrying fillets from. They were fighters.

Those fillets were about the size of ones you would get from a 10 inch yellow perch or 11 inch trout.

Jeff,

Here in CT for fishing and hunting on private and residential property, you have to get written permission by the landlord or have the landlord there to tell the police.

What a beauty!  Some of the private residential ponds have some huge BGs in them.  Problem is- they are private!  We have several places like that here in southern California, and you have to know someone that lives there to get in to fish... or just act like you live there and go for it- Ha!
