Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Hi everyone. Just about to order some more pine resin to make the stick bait glue, as JPThuy called it, "Leo's Lunker Loogie", or the official "BBG Brand Natural Glue for Live Baits".  That is one freaking long title. "BBG Bait Glue"..There you go.

If there are interested parties, I'll order extra resin, and grab more heat tempered glass jars from the local $0.99 stores, and process the resin according to temperature of your local areas. Let me know. So far, Federico confirmed it worked well. Three others in FL indicated it nailed fish quite well with local grubs and maggots. I got a few here in CA in the mountains and valleys also indicate it's a hot item for carps, cats, and trouts using non-impaled worms which lasted up to 2 hours on the same worm, yielding 4 catches per worm. WOW!

Suggested donation just for shipping and material costs. No production cost involve. My way of saying, glad to be among you guys:

  • Cost breakdown: $65 (correction from $55.96 due to shipping cost) per 5lb (80oz).
  • 2-stage filtration recovery from 80oz at 75% to remove all impurities: 60oz (1oz purified = $1.08, and not $0.93). However, I'm grabbing the $80/80oz pre-filtered resin cake rather than the raw, so the cost will be a flat $1/oz. Cost saving..
  • Heat tempered glass container: $0.99
  • Shipping and handling USPS prior mail, via standard box any where in the U.S.A: $5.75
  • OR...
  • Shipping and handling USPS 1st class in an envelope..hm..not recommended, in the U.S.: $2.50

Total for priority mail: $7.74 for 1ounce. Any additional ounce, I have to put in a separate bottle. So, that's rounded to $2 per oz, plus the shipping cost (sorry about the small container size..much easier to handle this way). Make sure to let me know a few things so I can formulate base on your needs:

  1. Temperature of the water you're fishing from, or expecting the temperature to be. Once the resin hits the water, it will harden slightly. The base temp for the resin to be malleable to put on the hook is at 75°F.  When you dip your bait into the water, the resin may harden up just a tad. Need a lighter, warm the resin up within 1 to 2 seconds, cool it by blowing on it once, and stick another live baits on.
  2. How many ounce you want. With priority, I can go up to 5lbs I think (80oz total). Remember, 1oz will go a LONG LONG WAY!

@David: 1 once on flat parcel. Logged for you.

@LOFR: ROFL. Tried that one. Not very successful. However, did bring my golden flasher chenille with me a wee bit back to use it on the juicy caterpillars. That worked, but it too a lot of careful tying in the field. Didn't like it too much..but effective none the less.

Hey ,why dont yall try to tape a worm to the hook with some automotive pin striping tape in short pieces, it can add a little flash to the poor old dull looking worm, I can hear the bluegill now, " Look at that flashy worm over there , all wiggley an flashing, I want him".  LOFR

I want to try an ounce. A padded envelope would be fine for shipping. I ship all kinds of things as an ebay seller and the padded envelopes do a great job. Just let me know how to pay.

Dennis, it's an old old old method. I remember they did this back in 1970s. They used to tie small worms onto hooks' bodies to make the bait last longers. I tried glues over here, but the super glues killed them. We want them to wiggle as long as they can in the water for enticement. Otherwise, it's a mtethod to provide for those who don't like to deal with the touching of live baits.

OK I am not getting this, a new technique or what? Gluing live bait to a hook? Fill me in please

Jonathan. 3 ounces, water temp between 65 to 80. No problem. PayPal is fine. Msg you.

P.S. on water temp: however you make it for your waters around Riverside is probably fine for the bay area, too.

How do you want to handle payment? By PayPal, or send a check?

Put me in for 3 ounces, Leo, and thank you very much for taking the time to make it!

Water temps will be typical for California in spring; in summer the water in the lakes around here probably gets well into the seventies; it might even reach the 80s, not sure. Delta water tends to be a bit on the cool side b/c a few hundred miles away where it starts, it's snow melt in spring. I probably won't get on the water for at least a month from now.

Can't wait to try out Leo's Lunker Loogie for the first time :-)
