Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Lincoln, Nebraska dentist Bruce Condello with 3 lb. Richmond Mill bluegill.

Here's the first decent photo out there of Lincoln, Nebraska dentist Bruce Condello with a 3 lb., 1 oz. bluegill caught two weeks ago at Richmond Mill Lake in North Carolina.  The fish took a 1/16 oz. Road Runner, with a black body and green tail.  The fish was released and still swims...ready to be captured again.  A story will be published in Pond Boss magazine in the coming months.

The best part is that Bruce put him back so he can continue to pass his genes and DNA  along for a couple more spawning seasons.

Wow Bruce I couldn't imagine catching anything that big. I lived in NC for a few years after getting out of the service, maybe I should of stayed. Wish I could get something close the that to grow in my pond thats the disadvantage of living up north I guess. Anyway GOOD FISHIN Bruce.

Actually none of them are that color when you land them, but those big coppernose males get mad, especially if they sit in the livewell for ten minutes, and it changes their colors to almost black.  No tagging program that I know of.

Bob Lusk says that this fish is age-6, and he would know because he stocked them. :-)

That's a mutant, Bruce! I feel sorry for any bass, musky, or snakehead that might tangle with that thing :)
