Bream went shallow yesterday here... I'll count my blessings and catch a MESS of bullheads tonight! I guess the bream chase them out of the shallows. I can't fish the shallow side of the lake. The john boat is determined to sink, and I've been yelled at for hopping the fence.
I'm heading to pick up a GIFT boat in the morning, on a trailer... it was in a tree after Ivan, and my uncle put a couple hundred bucks into fixing it, but his woman says it must GO... GAME ON! Free boat on a trailer!
I may not make the hatch [24 hrs? 48 hrs?] but I would love to fish for painted bream... the pics you posted reminded me of the days I twitched a popper under a weeping willow during the hatch... I was about 6 years old, and I pulled a hundred good fish up in a day... My grandpa TANNED my ass for missing one of the stringers, and leaving 20+ bream to rot by the tree. And he was right to do so! Man... those were the days... Hopefully they're not gone, and there are plenty of fish left in the world. I worry that the kids today will never know what good clean water can offer...
I'm going to send you a friend request. We're not too far away, maybe we could spend a day fishing, and write a story for the bigbluegill crowd? My phone number is 601-467-5399, and my email is smugpuppy@aol.com.
I'm learning to snell hooks tonight. I have a few thousand hooks, and I'm trying to figure the most PROFITABLE way to sell them on eBay... money may be tight, but gas to good fishing would be worth it! I had to cross my fingers for dinner last night. Two "potato chip" bream got me 2 3lb bass. I'm a fan of working UP the food chain. I love catching bream on light tackle more than anything, but I've been fishing for dinner most of the last few years...
But I've got a full tank of gas, and a FREE BOAT! On a trailer! HELL YES!
Show me some bream! I'll jug the small ones, and hope for a nice flathead. I'll split the fillets with you, and we'll eat well.
I see you went to Ebro and struck out......UGH! I am going to Gin Pond off Hwy77 tomorrow and had planned to hit Cowford/Ebro Tuesday. May have to change my mind. Going with a bass friend. He usually fishes bass and I fish for what bites but mostly for bream.
Friend in South Port called and wanted me to go with him to Gin Pond. I have never been there so don't know a thing about it. We plan to hit Gin tomorrow
Hi Clint. Thanks for joining the group. It's a start. Would appreciate it if you would tell your bigbluegill friends about the group and see if they will join. Maybe we can get a few from south Alabama in with us as well.
Hello Clint and welcome to a great site. I'm from Enterprise and came through Vernon today. Crossed the curvy bridge and wished I was fishin' Holmes Creek. Hope to hear from you on the forum and blogs. Got any pictures of cold water gills from that creek?
