Wow !! I havent seen NorthNew Jersey Perch fins quite turn red like that but now I see why in your araea they call them redfinsJeffrey !

Just like a Bowfin's fins turn turquoise during the spawn the Yellow Perch fins turn a vibrant red during the spawn......

As a general rule your yellow perch have yellow fine but it's not uncommon to catch perch with red fines.

Good bright colored perch, John. They are a blast to catch. I like a jig tipped with a minnow for these guys, but have caught them on a lot of different baits.

Thanks Jeffrey.Those look like Orange fins to me .A redfin is a certain species of Pickerel up here.I am not certain but I think I saw one once chasing bait in a pond in the woods.
