Thank you Jeffrey for the reply on hooking crickets. I always hooked them through the collar, but the fish would get about all the cricket except the head and not get hooked. I will try the way you put them on the hook and not worry about keeping them alive.

                            Thanks

Hey John Grimes thanks for the question......I'm not an expert on anything but I will provide you the technique I like to use....When I hook the live cricket I start right on the under side of the body where it joins with the head....I pass the hook through coming out of the end of the tail past the barb and kind of secure them there.....I like to use a small weight to assist with casting such a light offering  but water logged crickets will start coming off......I personally rarely use|"cricket" hooks because wire hooks will cause too many lost fish where I fish most often....I prefer a more rigid hook but this becomes a preference thing.....I don't expend effort trying to keep them alive.....when you find them effective it won't matter in my opinion.....The folks that took me fishing when I was kid introduced me and now I'm a 50 year veteran.....I will post a picture close up next time I get crickets, right now they are difficult to find as a major fire damaged the largest farm in the Country down in Alabama......good Fiahing to you!

Yep John, I didn't need the latest batch to consider Carl a great craftsman........I already have things he made that are permanently in my box.......I also got some beautiful quills that I love to use on my telescopic gear..
