Do you love big bluegill?
Going through some old boxes in storage I found my old ultralight baitcaster, a Shimano Bantom 100 that I bought in 1978. It's rated for 4-8 lb test. I used it with 4 lb and it never got caught between the spool and body. I have not used this reel in over 20 years. Can't wait to use it on the Bluegill and Redears!

Thanks Jeff, I have some of the b-mag 100's, the are rated for 12lb. I have been looking for a ul baitcaster.
Yes Dwayne, I believe they are. I originally put 8 lb mono on it and was using it for plastic worms, spinnerbaits, etc., typical bass lures. Then one day a client brought me a trophy bass that he said he caught on a live crawfish and 4 lb test on the same reel I had.. so from that point on, I started using 4 lb test. Now I'm going to use it for my Bluegill drop shot rod. Maybe I'll try 2 lb line on it. The drag is super smooth.
Nice reel are all bantoms 100 rated for light line?
Good looking piece Jeff......You should have fun with some of those LP horses.....
They were nice reels for the money. I bought 2 of them probably 20 years ago ang caught lot of fish with them. My only complaint is they used a lot of bushings and not many bearing thus is the reason to clean & lube often. I also have a couple Garcia 5500c and a 2500c from about I'm guessing 35 years ago. Those were the reels that started the ball rolling for the bait casting industry. They were made in Japan at that time. Hey Jeff thanks for the oldies but goodies it make me reminisce about my younger years.
nice good luck with it...
