Do you love big bluegill?
Sixteen gills today up to 9"....caught deep on a McScruff Pink Glass Beaded bug in size #8 tipped with live crickets....This area had skim ice Friday but rebounded with air temps of 63 degrees.....crazy winter so far......

We rebounded early last January after an arctic blast so I'm hoping for more of the same this season.....the fish populated the holes and then suspended with high sunny skies.......
A January 2014 memory.........a great mess of gills on the 5th ahead of some of last season's coldest weather in our region,,,,,,,,,McScruff tied some bugs with "glass" beads and they were working in the cold water......Didn't know how good 2014 was going to be at this point........
Looking ahead to January and what it might hold.........can always catch speckled perch but I enjoy the challenge of hunting down a few willing gills during our coldest days........
Thanks guys....just took advantage of the milder air temps and went deep in the cold water........just proves a little patience and knowledge of your water can pay off year round...........It was fun out there yesterday.....basically I fished from the time the weekly top 40 started and picked up when they played this week's number one song....not a bad January Sunday......
