Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

This is the latest I've ever fished for bluegill and it took me a while to figure two of them out. It was about 35 degrees with a 7 to 10 mph wind. I wasn't prepared to fish this way but made do with what I had. If you can catch them in November on the drop-shot it should be killer the rest of the year.

These rigs should be deadly on Shellcrackers. I drag a cricket on the bottom around where we catch bluegill and pickup lots of nice fish. Crackers don't seem to e as eager to take baits suspended under floats. I'll try this technique on them instead next spring.

This is how I do a lot of my Bluegill fishing from my float tube and have been using this method for years.  (I also fish tiny hand-tyed jigs)  But I use a short leader line going out- about 6 inches, and almost always use a splitshot, becauseI I fish over rocks a lot and if snagged, they just slide right off. I use strictly 2 lb test.

Thanks Jeffery , this fish is on the bigger end of the spectrum for around here. It surprised me to catch it in cold weather. The air temp was 35 imagine the water temp wasn't quite that cool.
