Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

After a lot of fishing with no results I put to a drop-shot rig with what I could find in my tackle box. It produced the only two fish of the day.

This was my first attempt at drop shotting. With the time limitations and numb finger I did not experiment much. I plan to try it again soon. Do you have a suggestion for a readily available hook.

12 inches between the weight and the grub. 1 inch grub on #10 hook tipped with chartreuse gulp maggots, these have been in my tackle box for years and this is the first success I've had with them.I didn't allow for the angle that you have when bank fishing so the bait was only 6 in. off the bottom. I probably would have gone up to 18 to 24 inches but my fingers were so cold I was afraid I couldn't re-tie.

How much distance between hook and weight? Are those Gulp Maggots you're tipping with?
