And don't get your finger too close to their mouth or those wicked gill covers!

Chunk of a white Perch .They fight so much better than Yellows! Guess cause they're not a true Perch I think they are faster ,stronger swimmers than Yellows.

A real 'black back' right there. A Tru-Turn hook, I see. My go-to fave.

Yes I have noticed the purple John and this one has it back by the tail also....a good looking fish...

They're fun Tony as you could imagine......Spring run traditionally starts around St. Patrick's Day, but with the mild winter we have started catching aa few but not spawning fish yet.....These fish travel in schools so you can knock down good numbers quickly.....They are classified as a non-gamefish in North Carolina therefore no size or creel limits...Minnows, Crickets, Worms, Jigs and Crank Baits to name a few methods for success.....Just one indicator that my bluegill fishing may start before Good Friday this year...Three Cheers!

Nice, I have never caught, (or eaten) one of those.....

Funny thing last weekend all the white perch I caught were good eaters.....all between 8 and 11 inches and chunky......I like White Perch as well, I just trim the filets a little more to remove the blood line......I like to make Buffalo fish and I use white perch for that recipe....You can make a piece of wood taste goog with Frank's hot sauce!

Nice fish.  I like eating white perch.  My favorite size is between 9 and 11 inches.
