Thanks again Leo.
John, make sure you grab the grass shrimps from your local waters, and not from another water. Grass shrimp can be a massive nuisance or it can be fatalistic to your surround waters from an infestation.
Excellent Leo! Thanks a lot!!
John, here are some grass shrimp articles for you look at, within your area:

John I'm under the same impression I didn't think they got big enough to put one a hook
Yes David it always amazed me they werent really in the Perch family even though the White Perches scales are rough just like a Yellow Perch .It is a very close resemblence between the two .I am guessing the White Bass doesn't have the sandpaper feel to the scales like the Perches . Also the black marking across the top of the head to the top of the gills is present in the WP but not the White Bass. Good tasting Fish!! ,and again Chris this ones a fine size!
Would someone post a pic of a Grass Shrimp please and how to hook them .I've never used them for bait .I was under the impression they were too tiny to rig andcast.
White perch are a native species, unlike the zebra mussels and gobi's. They are anahydrous, meaning they can live in either salt and fresh water. Thewhite perch were originally found along the coastal rivers of the Eastern US, where they migrated back and forth between the two. To have them in Lake Erie might be a fortunate turn of events.
As for the confusion, that is understandable. They are not perch at all, but are part of the same family of fishes that include white bass, stripers and a few others.
White Perch for sure and Lake Erie is getting full of them. They came in on ships when they empty there ballast along with Gobi's and zebra mussels and so many more invasive species. We are our own worst enemies.
The difference between the white perch and the white bass is hard!. I agree with John it look's more of a white perch, Love catching these guys at this time of the year while their spawning using grass shrimp. Nice catch man
