Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Found this picture on a site, that oddly had nothing to do with fish or fishing. Just a google search. Just wondering, does this look like the world record redear sunfish from a different angle?

Yep, that's the world record Redear sunfish.  Largest freshwater sunfish on the planet!

Here's a picture of it when I weighted it.  I have a very accurate scale and it goes to the nearest ounce.

That most certainly is Lawler with his trophy fish.

Believe it or not, I actually think this fish is still alive in this photo.  Look at the reflective eye.  Usually that goes away when they die.

That's a MONSTER!

The partial/facial photo in the background looks like it could be Lawler, the gentleman who caught the record. Maybe a day or so later?

Oh my gosh! That is not a RE. That is a mothership!

What a whopper!

It's insanely big. Looks like the same one. I'll bet Mr Overbaugh would know.

I think that could very well be the same fish.
