you put in a lot of work there Walt!! real good looking pond!!
Lookin Good
I hear you on the bare bank, Leo. I have planted some fescue but need to put out more. For a couple months after it was dug it was too dry to plant anything; then once we had some rain I just haven't had time. Maybe next weekend.
Wow. That's a heck of a pond. I'm drooling right now. Whoever was contracted to design the bank, my hat to that person/company. A bit weary about the erosion at the very far end though.
Thanks, Jeffrey! Tony, they're already in there - we put fourteen or so in there sometime around the second week of October, then another eleven about a week later. We had had the fourteen in a 4X3X2 PVC/plastic mesh cage in an existing pond on the property since the first of June when I brought them back from the Apalachicola, and the other eleven had been in a 106'X6X4 raceway on the property.
I've already got a Texas Hunter feeder set up on the far bank and had it slinging pellets for about a month before the weather got cold. I saw more than one of them feeding on the surface about thirty minutes after the feeder went off about three weeks ago, but when I went over to where they were feeding I couldn't see any pellets so they may have just been grazing on daphnia or some such.
Walt, are the hand painted going in this upcoming spring? Very interested in this project.
For a hatchery it's a great looking sight........setting up to be an awesome place Walt...
It's actually under an acre - probably just the photo angle. But it's enough water to grow a few hand-painted bluegill!
Walt, that is one BIG hatchery pond.
