Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Taped out at 10.25 inches...way over a pound. Caught on the Nuthin Jig tipped with a garden worm.

Just curious, Jim, what is the state record p-seed in Maryland? That's a big fish anywhere and I can't imagine any 1 pound seed would be too far off a state record.

Splendid job!!  That PB will be blown out again pretty soon.

Holy cow Jim that's an unreal pumpkinseed!

Thanks, Tim!

This is the fourth p-seed I have caught in my life that went 10 inches, three from this pond and one from one fron 1 mile of the house.

I call that a reel trophy! Nice one Jim!

Nope..not really Allen. Most of LH autos have full chennelle bodies...and two sets of legs that are acurately positioned for a good fall and action...much more involved to tie. This is just a thread wrapped body that tapers thin down to the bend of the hook and is thicker up by the head of the jig. Not even a chenelle body. Here is one...not much to it, but designed primarily to team with bait-tipping.

Could a plain hook and bait do just as well? Maybe, but once the bait is stolen the jig still has enough visual appeal, despite its simplicity, to continue to entice fish.

Nuthin to it!

Oh, ok.  Basically the same thing as one of LedHed's Auto jigs, minus the legs.
