Do you love big bluegill?
Had a good day, just hate that I was wearing wool socks and had to dress in layers in early April to go fishing..

This is a shot from April 2012 when we had similar conditions and nearly a twenty degree drop in surface water temps..........they still have the urge to be there and will bite most often if the weather conditions allow you to get to them......we'll try something this weekend......
Looking forward to the spring run for Black Crappie on the Cashie River in North Carolina....I believe the 10" minimum is working great but it still has lots of opposition.....
I'm so glad I got on these fish over the weekend.....By the time I get back on the Cashie River the Crappie will be deep and I'll be looking for big Spring gills anyway.....These fish came out of a river with a ten inch minimum and it has been working great....lots of nice Crappie...over half of my twenty were over 12 inches....This restriction has been in place for eight years now.....Only a few of North Carolina's waters are designated for big Crappie......
Thanks guys.....it's hard to resist getting out on the weekend Dilly when you work all week.. Weird weather, but everyone has had a taste of that I think!....I don't target Crappie as often as I use to, mainly in the winter months.....I just ran across these recent fish in areas that I normally catch gills so kind of a pleasant surprise! The gill fishing will continue to improve from here on through the spring...
Jeff, way to suffer to get to the bite!! The weather sure has been weird this year. Up here in yankee land the weather has gone from the 70's to the 50's. The only crappie I've caught have been little one's at the gold course lake. I would love to catch some slabs like these. GREAT JOB!!
Dilly
Thanks Dick.....it's been a while since I was in a Crappie bite as good as it's been here lately....I carried minnows today since we had a chilly start and the Crappie bite picked up first thing.....No problem getting a nice mess of 20.....Good luck when you get out Dick!
Jeffrey's been a busy fisherman and looks like he found the crappie honey hole. I miss them day's hope I can get out someday soon. Looks like you got a load of black crappies Jeffrey great job and a load of good eating.
Thanks Derrick.....the bass were still hitting pretty good this morning but man it was cold early....The dock I launched at was covered with frost.....My mercury outboard doesn't like those chilly starts.....but I'm not crazy about it either....
good haul
