Do you love big bluegill?

I Rested This Creek in 2014........

After two amazing seasons in 2012 and 2013........I reluctantly rested this trophy gill destination last season......Several hundred 10" class fish and dozens of 11" coppers over the years.......really looking forward to getting back in there in 2015........some of the best dynamics in any place I fish........I will probably be in there during the April Full Moon.......

Comment by Andy is OptiMystic on January 27, 2015 at 6:47pm: They are a little harder to catch above 10" in the Piedmont. In some places I think it's actually overpopulation. I fished one river where you brought in a red breast on pretty much every cast all day long, but 7" was a monster.

Abney on January 27, 2015 at 6:38pm: Good perspective Tony......can't say my results are scientific but I totally believe it makes a difference...I will decide on two spots to rest for 2015 by the first day of Spring.......I decide based on 2014 results, extent of our local winter and finally tropical storm/hurricane impact and the resulting fish kills.......I'm struggling big time as I have some favorites reaching the top this year but no later than 2016...........

Abney on January 27, 2015 at 6:32pm: That's the plan Carl ...........but it's public water and other anglers may have hit these fish........ but all I need is one trophy gill to make my patience pay off........lol..........it was tough last season as slab crappie reside in the same water...........catch a lot of big gills in here on minnows while fishing early crappie.......
