David in the lakes I fish I can find small gills everywhere but the bigger fish go to deeper water but I do think they come up from the depths in the evening to feed because you will catch them then. I usually fish in the mornings and the evening that seem to be my best time to catch bigger gills that come in a little shallower to feed.

David, NICE FISH!!!!!! My water temps have hit low 90's and the fish are still fairly shallow but poppers haven't been working!!!!!!

david the bugs are out so they will hit on top ,caught a bunch of small ones midday last week.threw the poppers right at the shade line .they were waiting for something to fall outta the trees i thinkdusk is best this time of year i believe.catch my biggest on top in the fall when the leaves are dropping in the water.bugs must ride on the leaves .when you hit it right it is something to see.

Dick I may not be able to figure this one out. I never really fished this time of the year much so don't have past experiences to compare to . How about you , do you normally catch gills this time of year on top? Back in late late May and early June I had great success at Kents pond on the surface and haven't tried his pond since a month ago cause water level is so low and he wanted me to give the fish a break......

Tooty when you figure it out let me know also. My fish are not interested in anything floating.

Thanks all you guys and yep Doc has enough shade around her pond to keep it relatively green. Only go 6 gills all subsurface and can't figure out why they won't hit stuff on the surface lately.  Maybe cause the waters so low, just don't understand it.

She is a great gal and done wonders for my back and I'm at least able to walk now with out too much pain.
