This was just about one year ago...April Fool's Day Crappie from the same creeks I'm catching them now.....This pattern is predictable and has repeated itself for years in this region.....Just have to monitor water temperatures and the Dogwood Trees going into bloom........Game on then!

No problem there......the fish fry will keep me motivated through the cleaning Dick!

They were in shallow water Jim piled up in some tree tops......Historically I catch fish in this creek around Good Friday every year for the last 8 years.......I found a few Friday on a river South of the Albemarle Sound so I decided to take some live minnows today and the first bait produced a nice Crappie and thank goodness I had a kid from my neighborhood with me and he caught his Personal Best as we completed our 40 fish limit in two hours......Most came to the Live minnows but Eric wanted to try the Emerald Shiner solo and he caught four on that presentation before he insisted on live bait.....One of those days Jim when the dead shiners falling off were being hit right after they dropped in...Just a blast and I was able to share the moment with a young kid that only gets to go if I take him......Eric was thrilled........We only fished a couple feet deep in 4 to 6 feet of water.....Caught 13 gills but they were slowed by last night's cold front in my opinion....

Look like dark males ready for the spawn!

What was the tactic!

Yes.....my neighbors son went with me and I told his parents I would hook them up with a mess of fish since they never go fishing........

I tricked the neighborhood kid Eric first thing this morning......I told him we were going to the Little River fishing and he got excited. Then this morning I had said lets go to the lake instead....He frowned and I said April Fools, and the rest is history.......Little River produced and I don't mean the band!
