Do you love big bluegill?
Don was killing 'em today!Massive lepomii (sunfish), nice salmoides (bass), and the biggest ictalurid (catfish) I've ever seen on the fly - actually, the FIRST I've seen on the fly!And these are…Continue

I'll admit, I'm lazy. Why expend a lot of effort and gas trying to find ponds, when all you have to do is open up Google Earth, zoom in on your area, and start looking?I know that I've found a LOT…Continue

Hit my favorite pond Saturday afternoon. Nothing was working, from my last 8 fatheads, to dragging plastic worms on shaky heads and throwing my Booyah Buzzbaits. I figured a slow jerk bait might work. I don't have any suspending jerkbaits...yet, so I had to use my old floating Rebel. I got three nice hits on it. This one nailed it. A very large bass hit it, but was pulling my drag all the way in to shore. I let up just a little to try and tighten the drag and he spit the hook about ten feet in front of me. He was REALLY big, too. Broke my heart. One more hit and then nothing for the next hour. Win some and lose some. I'll be back...
Wow nice pics looks like you had a good time
I've got a good start on my goal to catch fish in all 12 months of 2016. Hit three ponds last week and got one fish in each. It warmed up nicely so I took some time on Saturday to work the banks. Got a nice 15" LMB at Bogue Pond around 9am on a fathead minnow. Got him just outside a week bed with a #4 hook set for about 2 1/2 feet under a slip bobber. Worked the banks for another two hours to no avail. Tried plastic worms, small jigs, chatter bait...nothing. So on to another pond. North Twin Lake is really just a pond, but it holds some nice size pickerel, crappie and bass. I had some great luck there last month so I'll keep going back. No yak access, and not a lot of bank space easily accessible. Got lucky with a medium minnow under the bobber again at around noon. Last stop of the day was around 2pm. Hit up South Twin Lake, about a half mile from the last spot. Picked up my last fish, a nice 10' crappie, around 2:40pm on a fathead minnow. That was the only bait working today. I set my medium light rig up on my home made pole rest while I tried a variety of jerk baits and chatter baits with my medium heavy rig. Nothing. Saw the bobber moving around, so I set the hook and pulled this guy in.
Using those Tabbert Jellies ,I 've caught , Yellow and White Perch , Bluegills HBGxPS ,Crappie , and Pumpkinseed. Put em' to use this spring Gary they'll catch for you!
Yes Gary they are my Jelly Jigs in pink, Chartreuse, Dark olive and pearl white. Hope they work for you. I have sent many out and everyone tells me they work good for them so good luck and GOOD FISHIN....
Thanks guys. It was a blessing to be out there again catching fish. I've never fished as late into the season at last year or as early as this year...but, it felt like eternity. Feels so good to be back catching fish. Dick, do these look familiar to you? If not yours, my apologies. However, I got them from John and cant wait to try them out. With the weather turning, I expect to be out on the yak for the first time next week. These will be on my ultra light rig and in the water first off.
Nice Outing Gary!
Haven't got and idea what flies but I hope they work for you.
Thanks for sharing Gary. CONGRATS....
