I've tried it, papa.
By themselves, they cast like crap. But add a small weight ahead of them and you can at least get them out there.

I flatten mine, give them a belly using a rounded dowel and also shape them minnow-like. They end up like a willow leaf flutter spoons... and I've never caught anything on them. Mostly because I haven't done more than tinker around with 're.
Years ago, I remember my dad making spoon from bottle caps. He just poked a hole in either side. I don't recall of he ever caught anything on them.

Has anybody made bottle cap lures? I have quite a collect of bottle caps & was thinking of making some.

When I was a kid some 55 yrs ago, Dad made worm cans out of old Prince Edward tobacco cans. They were slim with a hinged top  I think he punched a couple of holes  in them and looped a piece of twine thru the holes so it would hang from your belt. Sure wish I had one of those hold tobacco cans, for that matter I sure wish Dad could take me fishing. Well maybe some day.

For me, a smallish belt bait box would be ideal; Ive seen them now molded in plastic that are excellent. There are about 5 designs on the market that look promising. I am looking at the largest of the bunch.

It is almost not worth the effort to make one myself.

Worm belt, or bait belt, was touched upon by a few dabblers, but it was tossed out of the market pretty fast. The container is a plastic hard case, similar to the electic casing for the power socket, and lidded. The housing capacity is about 20 largest worms. I used to have something similar bought for $2 for the belt. I fashioned something similar for me to use earlier to increase the capacity to 100 when i hiked, and carry a military folding shove just in case I need to find more worms.

I've tossing rousing around the idea of a small worm box that fits on the belt.
I know its been done, but I was considering
one "home made" style.
