Got a dozen of these fat boys congregated by the heavy cover little island in the pic.  All on green popper.

Tooty,

This pond has a sandy bottom, so it seems to be pretty clear after the rains.  We have had alot of rain also.  The other ponds are dirty and clearing up now.  The Rock river is about back to normal.  I might try and fish an oxbow on the Rock this summer.  We will have to see how that goes.  I have six other places to fish, but they are farther away.  I also have the canal as a fall back.  I am also going to fish the Green river, behind my house.  It is supposed to have some descent small mouth in it.  I have never caught a small mouth.  I am encouraged that I think I will have a great summer.

HEY DILLY, GREAT TO HEAR FROM YOU AGAIN and glad it all worked out so you had some ponds to fish . Isn't the water murky over there? Ponds are all dirty here and tough fishing to be sure. Also they are all full from rains and the bite is off for the time being. Glad you got out and got some fish ........

Tooty,

On 5/7 the fishing was not great. The gills and crappie seemed to go deep because of the sun. I forgot to bring my fish finder.   Thursday 5/9 fishing was awesome in the rain.  I got in the float tube for about 30 min.  I put on the poncho and kept on fishing.  The gill are starting to spawn.  I found five beds.  I still need to get in the littler pond which is connected to the bigger pond.  I still have not found the crappie beds.  I think Their might be one deeper below the gills bed's off a point.  The owner of this pond is happy that I catch and release.   This pond is so great.  The owners mother is the one who loved to catch bluegill and crappie.  He said it is supposed to have hybrids in it, but I have not caught any yet.  I am glad to see that Doc's pond is full.  Happy fishing.

Tooty

The pond owners decided no one is going to fish their pond this year.  I then went to the canal and caught some dinks and a 8 inch rock bass.  I then went and found out the owner of a pond.  Some guy who lived across the street hooked me up.  The owner said yes, and the fishing was great.  I caught 30-40 gills in 3 hours. A lot of nine inchers. Two nice crappie.  It was a great time.  I am hoping he will let me go this coming week.

Tooty,

Every thing is flooded over here in the quad cities.  The Rock river and Mississippi river are both very high.  I went fishing Thursday in the canal, and not a bite.  It is supposed to get in the 80's on Tuesday so I might get out in the float tube.  I will try out the fish finder.  My pond is overflowing so I hope they don't kick me out. Take care!!
