Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Alright folks. For those who are not too savvy with the PC (as Tooty would call it Computoid), MAC, smartphones, etc., let us here in the group know.

If your system happens to go into a meltdown stage, or in the process of getting hammered by malwares, spywares, adwares, or just plain viruses, we can help from remote as well. Microsoft is the first line of defense if you've purchased a recent version of Windows. Same with MAC. But, once a certain amount of years transpired, they will no longer support you. You're pretty much on your own. This is where the geeks and nerds of BBG come into play to help you out.

If you don't fear the remote desktop access (allowing us to see what you see on your monitor with a help of the software) by us geeks, normally used by Microsoft anyway, we can quickly diagnose and find the remedies. The free software we're using is TeamViewer 9. Since we're not using it commercially, and as a friend-to-friend, family-to-family support, we're in compliance with the company's "Free" policies.

If I can't resolve it by mere emails and support postings, I'll provide you my contact hotline so we can talk a bit longer. Since I'm on the left coast (west coast), and if you're happen to be on the east coast, we'll coordinate a time window.

Know that BBG is here for you, providing you information, and supports, to the best of our abilities when you need it.

Thanks Leo your the best. My PC is still running in hyper drive thanks to our last session. The computer runs fast and don't bog down anymore you do good work I'll vouch for you anytime. LOL

Not a problem at all Dick. Hope I can offer the same support to our fellow BBG members. There are way too many incoming attacks in the past 4 months on all platforms, including smartphones. No wonder ID thefts are on the rise, in conjunction to more and more electronic devices are being used, housing pretty much everything about the people's lives.

Leo I appreciate everything you did for me, goodness I can't imagine what I'd have spent at the computer shop. You were defiantly a blessing.

..

thanks leo,i have a son who is great with this stuff but can be a week to get him over here.no issues at the moment but this is my only LINE to all of you and want to stay in touch with the season just starting.thanks again leo for all us dinosaurs

It's my pleasure Jim. Offering my service without any cost is my way of saying, "Thanks Bruce Condello for putting things together for us, and let's make BBG an explosive place to hang out to share info, support, and encouragement." This place here is like no other places. It feels more like family here than just good friends, who share common ground.

Ok, I've got an issue.  The past several days, I keep loosing my wifi connectivity.  This is a HP computer running Windows 8.  I'll turn it on, it runs for a bit, then suddenly, wifi drops off, and says something like "No network connection", or "Connected, no internet".  I can reboot the pc, and it will connect again, but it will only last so long.

I've had a similar issue, many years ago, with a Win98 system.  Basically, it was clogged up, and needed to be reformated.  Am I looking at the same thing here?  I've never reformatted a computer before.

Nope. Did you upgrade your platfrom from XP/7 to Win 8? It happens quite often when older operating system like XP get overhauled to Win 7, and the new drivers just don't cut the gravvy with proper compatibility. This is one of the reasons why Win 7 and partly Win 8 allows you to load up older drivers in place of the newer ones.

Try to uninstall the current drivers, and replace it with the older functional ones from Win 7 or even Win XP/Vista.

No, this particular computer we bought new last year, came with Windows 8 pre-loaded.

Last question. Is this a laptop or an HP mid tower/compact box/built in monitor PC? It may be a corrupted driver or your NIC is going bad. Worst case scenario, total recovery/format-reinstall. Quick scenario, erase the old driver, install the real full driver set from the main manufacturer site. Let me know the model number and I can help out.

HP, model # 20-d014.  It's one of those everything-built-into-the-screen types.  I don't even know how to open the case to spray some air around to get rid of dust bunnies.  If the wifi module is going out, I may still have a USB Wifi adapter from an older tower.

Ah, the infamous DV model. Chance of your NIC WiFi card going out is 40%. However, before we dismiss the fact that the drivers are bad, let's back up all data, and proceed to do a full standard format and recovery mode, defaulting everything. Once done, update all MS updates, follow by using the web browsing for a few weeks before heavily installing anything else. Remove all the unused bloatware of the application. They are bad to your mind and system. If the full format and recover installation fail to maintain the internet connection, I'll lead you to the next step to get a new NIC for replacement which only take less 10 minutes. 1 minute to install, and 9 minutes to remove and put the cover back.

Over the past several days, I've had numerous issues with my web browser.  It seems that someone managed to download and install yet ANOTHER adware suite.  It was creating a real mess; hyper-linking oddball text on webpages, making seemingly "empty" areas a hyper-link, and seemingly opening redirects, and even new browser windows at random.  This is on Mozilla Firefox.  I just reset the browser.  Things seem to be better, at least with surfing.  I'll do some testing, and see if anything else pops up.
