Howard Brant is a well known writer in New Jersey as he was the Outdoors Editor of the Newark NJ ‘StarLedger’ read by a big population of fishermen . He was an expert fly Tier and frequent contributor to major outdoor magazines . Halfway through this fine little 1972 Garcia published pamphlet I am interested in finding more of Howard Brant’s writings.
The Garcia Company was a great asset for a Ringwood New Jerseyan . I once dropped a Cardinal model reel in the driveway and it broke .I took it for a 45 minute ride to the Garcia Plant on Laws Drive in Fairfield NJ out on Rt . 46.This was probably the mid 80's.The Gentleman who greeted me at the desk put a new side plate on free of charge.   May be an image of text that says 'HOW TO arcia 8921 CATCH TROUT BY HOWARD BRANT'The writing was on the wall that the plant was subduing to the unwelcome changes in American Industry as it was selling stock like these pamphlets and Royal Bonyl Fishing leader line at reduced prices at least as I recall. Needless to say i took advantage and fished the Brown Royal Bonyl leader material for years and it worked beautifully .I even probably have a little left ! I have several of these concise well written and informative pamphlets with the beautiful illustrations and treasure them .

I have a Revised edition of 'Trout Fishing' I am gonna re read.  I was glad to see several references to Edward Ringwood Hewitt , another Fly Fishing Pioneer , in Joe Brooks' ,'Trout Fishing ' . I have a blog on Hewitt that I will re-post after adding some of Joe Brooks references . I constantly add to this blog the more I learn about Hewitt's importance to the development of Fly Fishing.

Recently read American Notes by Rudyard Kipling. Not really a fishing book, but has a chapter about salmon fishing--late 1800's western US as experienced by Mr Kipling. It is always a nice surprise to find a fishing story hidden in a book not about fishing.

Looking forward to reading them James.Another free book i  downloaded on the Kindle is,'The Essential Trout Fishing Guide'.

Tales of Fishes is a good book. Would be really cool to have enough money to enjoy that kind of life. The Determined Angler is interesting being so old. It is not necessarily an easy read.
