Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

I got some hi-viz yellow #4, but I am afraid it will spook the fish.

thanks

Have been using Trilene XT solar for quite a few yrs now. Sadly they discontinued making it in small diameters, but I picked up some on e-bay. Most of my gill fishing is with crickets on the bottom. You can see the slightest tick with this line. I really believe it helps me.

I tried some copoly hivis for a couple years. It worked OK but I did see that at times the visibility did hurt me. I has low via spooled on another rod to change if needed. I rarely noticed lite bites with the hivis as advertised. Either conditions were not suitable or i could feel the bite first. Others may think it the best stuff on earth but I switched back.

I use high viz yellow braid. Works fine. However, I do use in conjunction with a flouro leader between 12" to 30", depending on the depth I'm attacking. Shallower the depth, the longer the leader.

Years ago I used Stren Hi Vis blue for bass fishing and we caught lots of bass.  Recently the Crappie did't seem to mind it tied directly to a jig, but I was fishing down about 12 feet.  I'm going  to try some Hi Vis Vicious this spring on Bluegills and Redears.  We'll see if they hit better with or without a flour leader.  I hope that I can tie directly to the spoons and jigs...

I usually use  4 pound suffix hi vis yellow mono.  I never have any problems catching fish.  I like the idea of seeing the line, especially if a lite biting crappie takes off with the jig.  Also, Mr. Crappie, Wally Marshal  uses hi vis line.  I seen it in some of his videos where he is shooting docks for crappie.  Before, you ask, shooting docks is where you let about 4-5 feet of line out, and you grab your jig and pull the jig under your rod past your reel and you sling shot your jig under the docks.  I think you will like seeing your line, and you will not have losses in the amount of fish you will catch.  I am not a fan of Viscious though,  I think thier line is very cheap.  and their plastics are worse.  I swore I would never buy another  product from viscious because their products suck.
