Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Today I lost three Bobby Garland Strollrs, a purple plastic worm, three Berlkley pogies, and a tube jig.

Got two bites...one on the H&H spinner bait..I think they are local to Baton Rouge area...not sure y'all know what that is. Also got a bite on the Bobby Garland jig on my sacalit pole.

Was so windy and blowing me all over the place I gave up. Some other guy left a few min before I did and came back a half hour before I stopped.

Just a dismal day.

Now I gotta get back to work. Not fun.

A+  for effort and gettin' out there .Even when we get skunked there's somethin' to enjoy and learn. Timing can be  luck sometimes.

You really have it in your blood to attempt you fishing adventure. Last time I went out I'm thinking it was in November. I don't get out much so if the occasion should come up, I'm gone. I was cold and windy. Put the boat in the boat launch and headed out to the lake. When I got to the lake it had white caps the wind was blowing so hard and if that wasn't bad enough it started to rain. I was with a gentleman I think he might of thought I was nuts for going but we both put on our rain gear and headed to the channel to get away from the white caps although it was still cold and rainy we fish the channel. We managed to get a few small gill and a couple small perch we made the best of of a bad situation and sometime we have to bite the bullet and make the best out of our not so good situation. Bottom line is I got out to fish the 2'nd time that year, I meet a friend probably as nuts as I am, and we managed to get a few fish. Like I said if the chance come's and I came see fit to do it I'm gone. I'm sure we will have some supper days later down the road.

Sorry to hear about your skunk trip. But, a day fishing is better than a day in the office ;-)

Amen to that Leo. I say if you get a chance go then go. I occasion may not arise tomorrow this is expedience speaking.

i typed a response twice to this and it didnt post. maybe something wrong with internet.

yall always told me you learn something each time. How true. I know...thats like some lie we tell each other when things didnt go well... but the truth is, if you are attentive and analytical...you are going to learn something.

Example, today, I had a white hair jig on the bottom of a blue and silver bobby garland stroller jig. its got that funny tail. well,,,for like the umpteenth time, the fish hit the bobby garland and didnt touch the white jig.

And..thathe idea of trying to get the boat to stay still.....aint going happen without a second anchor. i need to get to cabelas and get the cajun spear. see how it works.

When you hit Cabela, don't forget to get some of the C4 flies as well. If nothing turns up, a little sound wave beneath the boat can be productive ;-)

Leo:  You must be a purist to use C4 flies.  Us regular folks use DuPont spinners - 1/4 sticks.

:-0

ROFLMBO C4 flies are less messy, and water proof. Easier to attach to the main line, which is a 5wt by the way. It floats, so, quick action at the surface. DuPont is too bulky..you probably chase after muskie or gar. LOL

the cannon fuse used on the 1/4 sticks burn underwater -
