Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

I have an opportunity to purchase a 200 gallon aquarium and was wondering if anyone on here has one that they are raising freshwater fish in. I am new to this site and find it really appealing.

Never did an aquarium that large but something you may want to think about is 200 gallons of water in one area lot of weight on a floor unless its concrete.

KENNETH;; YOU NEED LEO FOR THIS ONE !  AND FOR A RULE OF THUMB; REMEMBER; A GALLON OF WATER;  IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY; WEIGHTS; AROUND 8 POUNDS;; SO; 200 GALLONS; IS  SOMEWHERE AROUND 2000 POUNDS !  LIKE DICKY SAYS;; A GOOD CONCRETE FLOOR MIGHT BE CONSIDERED !  LEO;; EITHER HAS; OR HAD; A LARGE AQUARIUM

Math might be a bit off big guy, but close. You're correct to assume the supporting base to be at least 200lbs over limit. My base is 150lbs for stand, and 400lbs for foundation in addition to any tank's/aquarium'd weight. I wish I have a 300lbs over the bearing weight, but nothing fits the profile I was looking for. May have to build one.

AWWW LEO;; IVE SLEPT SINCE I HAD TO USE THAT TYPE OF MATH !!   FUNNY THO;; HOW DIFFERENT  LIQUIDS; WEIGH DIFFERENT !!  WISH YO ULIVED CLOSER TO ME BUDDY; I BET I COULD BUILD YOU A TERRIFIC LOOKING STAND !!

With your help, I can probably build a sack out stand that can support a house.

Now, go to sleep!
We have a 70 gals aquarium, ans raising fresh water. Plenty of pondmeister here as well. Any question you may have, let us know.

Thanks to all of you for responding to my quarry. Weight is not an issue as I will be setting it on my concrete floor. I issues are filtration and feeding. I am assuming that when you do feed...you do so in a manner that the fish always stay hungry so that they clean up every last bit of food when you do feed them. Is this correct? Is a hanging filter better than an under the gravel type filter?

A few questions come to mind:

1. Type of fishes.
2. Budget for both DIY or existing filtration system.
3. How elaborate your tank will be in both decorative ans beneficial layout (sand vs river gravels vs coral sand).
4. What's your prior experience in taking care of aquarium/pond.
