Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

I like this time of year when the mornings are cool/chilly and warms up…..we need a few nights in the 50s and the crappie will move shallow in our region….pretty place to fish, you can see all the cypress knees along the bank that are fish magnets….

Lol Carl…….wood is a great choice on the Albemarle……I tell people fishing for the first time to find flooded cypress and bump the tree with your offering…..this will give you a chance anywhere you go……other clues, the patches of white flowers are thriving with insects and fish like to stage right under the edge to ambush anything that hits the water…..also try to fish beneath Spanish moss if possible, panfish will stage directly below it to take dropping insects……the Alabama rig works well and may attract the salt water species present….thanks for giving us your take Carl

terrific question Jeffery;; and down right mean to;; LOL  only getting to cast one time !!!  For me; I;m a blue gill fanatic;; so;; I would proablly cast straight forwarrd to the cypress tree with the little knolls around it. Set the float about 2 foot ;; with the water temp around 70; chances are the thermal cline has the gills ; up off the bottom;; wood is a natural magnet for them. (( but if I only had one cast; my jig ?? would proably be a umbrella rig;; with 6 or more wires coming off it so I could put more hoooks out; LOLOLOL

Where would you cast if you were only given one cast? One clue is the boat is sitting in the creek channel at six feet and 73 degrees on the surface……..you pick the species……just curious what the other anglers would do……thanks in advance for your input…..
