Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Yesterday, friends and I fished a deep break from 20 -30ft, on a large clear natural lake in Southeastern Wi.....a large pod of suspended fish were located near the break 15 ft down. 1/16th oz flash spoons were the ticket.....the slower drop rate was the trigger as we contacted literally hundreds of fish in 4 hrs of fishing.....our spoons never reached bottom without a strike.

We would simply cast over the break, and let the lure fall on a tight line until the lure was smacked.

The heavier spoons in 1/8 -1/4 oz did not produce in the active column

This body of water has true trophy bluegill potential, impressive builds, small eyes, very tall and round bodies.

We released several tanks, and kept a few dozen 7-7.5"ers.

Probably the hottest spoon bite I've ever experienced!

Absolutely excellent! I have yet to get in on a spoon gig this year, but I think I might do the white perch thing soon!

Steve,  Are you fishing "Rock Lake" in Lake Mills?  I live there and can give you a few places to start if you'd like.  Bob Davis
