I kept thinking there was another lake that had large CNBGs in SoCal! I forgot about San Vin'! If I remember correctly San Vincente is a hard lake to find the fish, but they are in there. And I guess Otay has some nice ones too. I got a 12 inch fish over 10 years ago at Barrett which was pretty nice because it was a 'Northern' Bluegill.
thnx for the comments guys
Not a biggun' but sure is pretty. If you look close - lots of these fish have scratches across their bodies - that's coming from the submersed brush & trees. The cover goes out to ~ 24 FOW. Extremely challenging for any kind of fishing, especially UL or fly fishing.
I hear real good things about San Vicente Jeff. Lots of bigger fish down there, too lazy to go. Pretty good crappie bite in the marina - them things are starting to pop up all over the place. Haven't see any of the Green Sunfish Xs yet.
Leo.. What are "legendary catches"? Where can you catch Bluegill like LedHed does? They can't get much larger without being record-sized fish! Other than Lake Skinner and this lake, the only places that I know of that might have fish that reach 11 to 12 inches or more are private lakes where the fish are regularly fed protein pellets. So many of the BGs that LH catches are "eye poppers" for fishermen from all across the U.S.. When I show friends and relatives that are fishermen his photos, they just cannot believe what they are seeing! What is usually said is.."Are you kidding me?!"
Beautiful monsters are coming closer to shore. Can't wait to see the legendary catches.
LOLOLOL;; HECK YEA !! COPPERS LIKE THESE WILL WORK EVERY TIME !!
Another fish whisperer beauty.
